Ram Navami means the birth day of Lord Rama. The ninth day of waxing moon is celebrated as Ram Navami in the months March April. This also marks the beginning of the Hindu calendar year. This is thought to bring prosperity and serenity to the people. Thousands gather in Goa to celebrate this.
Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami marks the birth day of Lork Krishna of the Hindu folklore. The epic say that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Krishna to destroy the evil. The festival is held in the months August to September. People usually visit the temples and various games are played. Dahi handi is one such. A number of boys form a human pyramid to reach a pot of curd hung a bit high. People at night also make aarti to remind themselves of the birth of Lord Krishna.
